The temperature outside is over 100 degrees today when I stopped off at the post office. A cd was waiting for me by a jazz combo called BMR4 from Chicago. They were nice enough to send it to me. When I put it in the cd player the temperature in my car went down several degrees. It's a very cool cd. I'm a huge Beatle's fan so when I saw the name "Fixing a Hole" I couldn't wait to hear their version. I'm not a professional reviewer but I know what I like. If I lived closer to the Chicago area I would definitely try to catch a show. Jazz and bluegrass are very similar in that the live shows are their bread and butter. Plus you get to meet the musicians. BMR4 is four guys who play sax, drums, upright bass and guitar. A classic jazz combination. "Fixing a Hole" has four songs. The Maze, Fixing a Hole, You've Changed and Barracudas. Lots of improvising is another thing I like about jazz and this cd has a lot. Thanks to Chris Bernhardt for sending me this cd. Other members are Jay Moynihan, Mike Rodbard and Neal Alger. I enjoyed all the songs but You've Changed stands out for me because of the smooth guitar of Neal Alger. Visit BMR4.com if you would like to purchase a cd.
